“When the moon hits your eye
Like a big-a pizza pie
When the stars make you drool
Joost-a like pasta fazool
We all know the song that Dean Martin made so famous,
and though the recipes below are not “pizza pie” nor “pasta fazool”
these super easy recipes for your Valentines Day Evening will make you drool.
If you are not into shrimp, you could sub grilled chicken or steak, or
make a meatless dish. I substituted penne pasta with pappardelle pasta because it’s more fun to try to say than penne and I like the way it looks dry in those little nests. Lets face it pappardelle is just a more festive noodle. I also took short cuts with basil (I used frozen cubes) and garlic (I used garlic paste). I also used Vodka instead of white wine.
Super Easy Garlic Bread
- Ciabatta Bread
(because it’s more fun than French bread – but pick your fave)
- Butter – 6 tbsp
- Garlic – 1.5 tbsp garlic paste
(found by fresh veggies)
- Basil – 5 frozen cubes
(found in frozen veggie section, thaw in micro approx 25 sec)
- Shredded Parmesan Blend – 5 tbsp
- Parsley – 1 tbsp
(because you will have it from the pasta recipe)
- Pepper – ¼ tsp
Mix all ingredients above together and spread mixture onto bread of choice - either horizontally or vertically depending on how you like to cut your bread.
Cook at 350 for 10 – 15 minutes with (softer) or without foil on baking sheet.
|Time Savers - chopped basil found in frozen veggie aisle & garlic paste found in fresh veggie section|
If your not wanting to bake something homemade I would venture to say that there is not a more Valentine festive sweet treat at our grocery than the Little Debbie Heart Shape Valentine Cake. It's pink. It’s in a shape of a heart. It’s cake. It’s a bargain basement price.
I realize the above seems like a “carb load” meal before a marathon!
You may feel the need to balance out your meal with a salad, totally
understandable. I am 100% sure that you can whip up your favorite salad without a recipe from moi. I have some good ones up my sleeve that I will share another time.
But now I have to get to the store . . . and so do you!
